The sports lighting at George Spriggs Reserve underwent a major upgrade with the installation of the latest LED floodlight technology and supporting infrastructure, transforming the venue into a high-quality facility for night football matches and training. The project was driven by the need to improve visibility, safety, and playing conditions after dark, while also delivering long-term efficiency in both energy use and maintenance.
The scope of works included a complete sports floodlighting package designed to exceed amateur football standards, providing bright, even illumination across the field for players and spectators alike.
Specialist drilling equipment and personnel from the USA were sourced to complete directional boring through challenging gravel and rock terrain, ensuring a precise and durable installation, whilst minimising disruption to the playing surface. All outdated lighting infrastructure was also decommissioned and removed from site.
Completed in line with industry best practice, the new system delivers superior light output and uniformity compared to the original floodlights. The upgrade has elevated George Spriggs Reserve into a first-class venue for community night football, enhancing the sporting experience and supporting the continued growth of the game.
